Marc Schmitz
Marc Schmitz (1963-2023) was a mulitidiscipinary artist based in Berlin. Marc studied Philosophy and Fine Art in Munich and Berlin. Marc participated in several Art Biennials such as Busan Biennial 2004, Beijing Biennale, the Sculpture Quadrennial in Latvia, Trio Bienal of Rio de Janeiro, Nakanojo Biennial in Japan, Marrakech Biennial 6 and Venice Biennial beside others.

Marc e was honored with solo exhibitions at venues such as TEDA Contemporary Art Museum Tianjin, the Zendai MoMA in Shanghai and the Concert Hall in Perth, Australia. Schmitz was residence artist on several occasions as in Korea, at Peace Art Hotel Shanghai or Goethe Institute Hong Kong. His work was awarded with the first prize for Art For Expo 2000 World Expo and with the prize of the jury at the 10th Cairo Biennial 2006, and the special award of the Busan Biennial 2004.

His work is presented in international collections such as the National Art Gallery Beijing, The Swatch Collection Shanghai, Nord/LB, and others more.

Marc Schmitz is an initiator and director of the Biennial Land Art Mongolia.
